Deal Value and Volume: Jump in 1Q25, Driven by SOE Restructuring

•  In 1Q25, SEA M&A deal value surged 296.1% QoQ, primarily driven by the Indonesian government’s restructuring efforts, making up 71.6% of the total. 

•  Excluding these transactions, deal value rose 12.3% QoQ, compared to a 10.4% YoY decline in 4Q24, while deal volume grew 29.0%, rebounding from a 27.5% QoQ contraction.  

Indonesia Leads with Government Initiated Large Scale Deals

•  Indonesia led in deal value by country in 1Q25, driven by large-scale SOE-related transactions, showing strong growth compared to 4Q24.

•  The increase was primarily fuelled by the restructuring of major Indonesian state-owned enterprises.
